anybody else familiar with or god willing found a solution to open office applications not being able to have their icons changed in objectdock?

to get the general out of the way, i've right clicked the icon to change it like any other, but when you select the png/ico you want and hit "ok" nothing happens.

aside from the normal method, i've tried editing the ini manually with no results either.

google has produced nothing but results of people having the same problem and no solution; usually with 1.9, though i am using 2.0 for the record.

going by the fact that people have made open office icons for OD, i have to assume that either not everyone has this annoyance, or that the people that don't notice the problem use shortcuts/running indicators rather than displaying running tasks.

i wouldn't be so annoyed, but unlike what you'd expect from vista/7; open office has a very low quality system icon, so in the dock it looks horrid sitting next to any other.

any ideas?

so i'm looking this here clock over, and i'm a little curious. you see i've changed my clock face a few times but i don't think i've ever noticed any occasion where the same old hands didn't exist.

now getting back into the swing of things, i noticed the icons are now supported in 256, in which case i might as well get my stuff updated to that size. but when checking out the clock i was fiddling with it at 256, (who even uses their dock that big?) and i noticed some horrid looking artifacts in the hands leading me to of course believe it must be an image file and not "freely generated techical programming stuff?"

anyone happen to know if this image file is in a place readily accessible or if there is any way to alter them at all aside from getting inside the executable itself? color or image altogether? i've looked my brains out to the degree of giving up.

i noticed fairly early'ish after updating that sub-level windows couldn't be assigned a different icon anymore, i.e. msn messenger main contact window having a typical msn icon, and conversation windows with your contacts have something like a dialog bubble. i figured i'd just play ball and deal on that account if i had to, but i finally noticed it's not even limited to that close of a relation. now every folder that's open has the same icon and shares it with pictureviewer even. is this a mistake? an accident? i can't imagine this was intended.

questions questions and rantings

so i was looking about the various libraries that concern me, thinking about uploading and curiosity struck as i passed through wallpapers. is moderation still in effect? if it is has it been changed in policy? is it only used on some or all libraries? the way i remember was everything was passed through as long as it was "in order" except for walls which had quality screening or whatever you'd call it.

and i remember the idea of feature quality skins/items only journeymen or higher rank could submit that would have some sort of a price, and if people would buy it, the author was entitled to some sort of commision. did that idea ever go anywhere?

has the copyright policy changed any? i seem to remember any original art being allowed since it's free anyway, except in a case a trademark holder disapproved, such as when apple made it clear they don't want their logo and such showing up. in icons and so forth you see logo's all the time, it'd be pretty hard to do things otherwise, but in wallpapers i noticed it's almost completely devoid of any recognizable symbols or characters.

i had a ton of questions, but some got answered already, and some i forgot when i decided to finally ask them.

hello again... it's been quite some time since i was what you might call "active", if not for the lizard i wouldn't have even recognized the place.

i wonder how many people might even remember me, i'm sure it's probably outweighed by those who are wondering who i even am, as it looks like the community's been doing some growing.

i could ask a ton of questions, considering all the changes, but i better just stick to the basics. how the hell is everyone? i'm sure there's got to at least be a fair handful of people i know from when i was around. i saw a few names i'll never forget on the way in here, and even the word association thread is still kicking lol.

so make sure to say hello if you drop in and ask me how the wife and kids are doing, small talk never hurt anyone.

Not sure who to bug, so I'll try bugging you all

I need to change my personal site domain name. I've had a typo bugging me in it since we first got them (if only Jafo could proofread us all the time eh?) Anyway it's not been a big issue before, but it's important to me now to have my new site properly link to here and my personal page, and I don't want a blunder like a typo in the address of course.

The problem is I need the independanthorizons changed to independenthorizons (this is why typos can kill you)

Anyway, thanks if you can help.

Well for starters lets just say I like pretty much every folder on my computer to have the icon files inside it set to
"View: Thumbnails" and "Arrange icons by: Type, and Show in Groups." And I keep setting it like that constantly, but now and then if not daily it seems to reset itself to view icons, sort icons by name, and auto arrange. Is there a reason it keeps getting reset that I'm just not able to figure? Or if it's going to keep changing back to some type of default, can I define the "default" to be thumbs/type/group for all if not at least one folder?

I should have posted this sooner, as time is starting to run short, but anyway...

The Sellersburg chapter of Ivy Tech State College is running it's 3rd annual Art Jam contest. This contest is based around the prize of giving the winners a scholarship for the Ivy Tech of Sellersburg, and as such is only applicable to high school students. Also the districts that may participate are limited to the areas that Ivy Tech of Sellersburg serves, because this is not a sponsored contest of all Ivy Tech institutions, but independantly run by this campus. The schools that may enter must be located in one of these areas...

· Bullitt County - KY
· Clark County - IN
· Crawford County - IN
· Floyd County - IN
· Harrison County - IN
· Jefferson County - KY
· Oldham County - KY
· Orange County - IN
· Scott County - IN
· Washington County - IN

You can find more details on the site under the "enter" page.

I realize that seeing as how this community is a world-wide giant so this is a bit of a longshot, considering you have to be in highschool too on top of the limited location X_x but to any here that this may apply to, or that you could relay the information to, this is a decent opportunity showcase your skills, compete against other students, and of course win the scholarship to the school (6 credit hours are awarded).

The contest has naturally been dominated so far by fine art entries, but we have catagories for many others as well, such as photography, sculpting, design, and pretty much any digital submissions. The works however, must be completely original and solely done by the individual, and each submission (especially digital) is checked in many ways for authenticity.

Anyways, like I said it's a bit of a longshot, but we're looking for as much participation as possible and I figured it was worth giving you a heads up on it.

If you have any questions or need anything, feel free to post it on here, or email one of us, you can find any rules and contact information on the site. So if you're interested, just take a look over at ivytech.edu/artjam Thanks
